Author: David Belliveau

We love our pets a great deal, but they can cause us troubles sometimes, especially when it comes to our furniture and carpets. If you own a puppy or a kitty, your carpets cannot be clean 100% unless you take care of it every day. Puppies and kittens are like small kids, they need diapers until you teach them where to pee and sometimes pets even throw up. Luckily, there are effective ways that you can use to clean the pet stains from your carpets by yourself using products that you already have in your home.

Urine stains

When it comes to urine stains you have to act fast and clean it as soon as it hits the floor. Once the urine penetrates into your carpet and dries, carpet fibers will spread odor. First, you have to absorb the urine with some clothes or a towel. Then, combine 2 cups of hot water with 2 cups of vinegar and 4 tablespoons of baking soda. Put everything in a spray bottle and spray it on the infected area. Leave it for about 10 minutes and then wipe it off with a soft cloth.

You can also clean your carpet by using ammonia. Put 1 cup of ammonia in 2 liters of warm water and apply the solution with a sponge. Leave it to dry and repeat the process if needed.

Club soda also neutralizes pet urine stains and other resisting stains. Absorb the excess urine with paper towels or clothes and then soak it with club soda. Absorb the liquid again and rub the area with carpet shampoo.

Vomit stains

Wipe of the vomit stains as soon as you can because it will stain the carpet fast. First, pick up the larger parts and rub the surface with a cloth. Then, mix a solution of 2 cups of hot water, 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 of dish soap and 1/2 cup of vinegar. Soak a cloth or sponge into the mix and apply it to the dirty surface.

There is one more way you can clean the vomit stains. Make a mixture from 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 1 teaspoon of dish soap. Spray baking soda all over the dirty surface and pour the mixture on it. Rub the surface and leave it for 10 minutes. After that, vacuum the surface.
